The Aude Département organised a study trip to the Loire Valley on 7 and 8 October 2015. It is coordinating the Cathar Country programme, Act II of which got underway in 2014 aimed at showcasing the tourist appeal of Aude heritage to the full by shining the spotlight on 19 châteaux, abbeys and cities afresh. It is also overseeing the extension of the listing from the City of Carcassonne to the mountain fortresses.

Taking part in the delegation were some twenty professionals: owners of public and private sites (Abbey and Châteaux), elected local representatives (Département Council and mayors) and the Act II project team.

They were able to learn about the management of the Unesco site, the Loire Châteaux network and the local heritage showcasing policies being undertaken in Blois and Fontevraud-L'abbaye.
