On 7 December, the Château de Langeais inaugurated the four rooms refurbished over the course of 2006 as part of a redevelopment programme undertaken by the Institut de France and the new manager, Kléber Rossillon.

The collection of tapestries of the Neuf Preux (Nine Gallant Knights) will now be displayed in the Salle des Preux. Four of the tapestries have been restored, and the room has been redesigned to show them to their best advantage.

The Salle du Mariage (Wedding Room) recreates the ceremony where the marriage of Charles VIII and Anne de Bretagne was solemnised in 1491. The finest pieces of religious art, which were previously displayed in various places around the château, have now been brought together in the Cabinet d’art sacré (Sacred Art room), giving the collection much greater prominence.

The Cabinet des faïences (Ceramics Room) is especially dedicated to the numerous pieces that typify the earthenware produced in the Langeais area in the 19th century. The innovative design of these pieces had a strong influence on the style of decorative arts in the 19th century.
