This TV film for France 2 (2x90min) was filmed exclusively in the Pays de la Loire and Centre regions from 23 October to mid-December 2007.
Locations used for the film included some of the jewels of the
heritage of the Loire, including Fontevraud Abbey, Brissac and the
Chateau de Brézé.
The production budget for the film was 6.3 million euros,
with grants awarded by the Centre region (100,000 euros) and the
Pays de la Loire region (70,000 euros). Over 800 extras were used
during the filming, which lasted around forty days.
The production company Telfrance, which was in charge of
filming, was assisted by the Bureau dAccueil des tournages,
the office specialising in help for filming, of the Pays de la
Loire's regional SEM (an organisation funded partly from the public
purse and partly by the private sector) with regard to preparation
(identifying the various chateaux to use), casting extras and minor
roles and sourcing local technicians.
