Published on 02 March 2017 - Updated 23 June 2017

This special edition of ‘La Loire et ses terroirs’ offers a stroll through the vestiges of the river’s past, from upstream to downstream, with a few detours down some of its tributaries. The diversity of the vestiges, including boats, from the simple pirogue right up to the 25-m long flat-bottomed chaland and remnants of fishing huts, windmills, bridges and ports, which bear testimony to two millennia of intense human activity linked to the river.
