After being recognised as a "1ere Grande Tablée de France" (1st Great Table of France) by the French Ministry of Agriculture, the vinegrowers' organisations in Saumur have once again been honoured by the René Renou award for those who have "worked the hardest, over the past year, on defending and promoting the cultural heritage linked to viticulture".
The “Communauté de communes du Gennois” unitary authority has just set up the "People, a nature between two rivers" trail in partnership with the Loire Anjou Touraine Regional Nature Park. A booklet on sale in French or English is available from the Tourist Information Office (€1) and can be downloaded from the Internet.
The free app "Visit'Blois" gets you wandering around the town along illustrated trails (e.g. The "Gouffre" ancient natural water reservoir and fountains; the reconstruction of Blois; walking trails waymarked by bronze nails, etc.) or opting for snippets of information about your immediate surroundings thanks to a geolocation system (monuments, gardens, etc.). The app also has an augmented reality system (addition of virtual elements to the actual image seen in your smartphone) as a fun way to learn more about over 100 points of interest, videos, games and slideshows on symbolic sites, particularly with archive photos or photos of the inside of places that are closed to the public.
The last territorial conference, bringing together the main local authorities of the UNESCO-listed site and chaired by the Coordinating Prefect and the Region’s two presidents, was held in Tours on 25 September 2013. On the agenda: a review of the management plan a year after it was approved, and the prospects for an action plan to put its main guidelines into practice.
To produce the 1st edition of this tourist map, with a print run of 80,000 copies, four tourist information offices have clubbed together: Loire Layon, Pays d’Ancenis and Une autre Loire with the participation of the Vignoble de Nantes Tourist Information Office.
The work conducted as part of the Département Economy Conference and the Loir-et-Cher 2020 prospective initiative has ended with the setup of the Loir-et-Cher – Cœur Val de Loire Tourist Development Agency, as a result of the merger between the tourist board and UDOTSI.
