On 9 April 2015, a partnership agreement was signed at Chambord between the National Estate of Chambord and the City Palace of Udaipur, managed by the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation. This is the first cooperation project between the Loire Valley and Rajasthan. Developing exchanges between the Loire Valley châteaux and Rajasthan’s palaces was a shared wish, jointly expressed by Laurent Fabius, France’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Initiated in 2014, the Résidence Ackerman + Fontevraud La Scène is mounting its first exhibition, set to open on 3 April in the Maison Ackerman cellars. Created by the artist Julien Salaud, the work “Fleuve Céleste” (Celestial River) takes over its setting, endowing it with a fragile and ephemeral stellar vault that is to be on exhibition for the next three years.
Tourism is one of the mainstays of our local economy – a key source of employment and of major importance to our national and international reputation. The aim is to reap our fair share of the rewards in the offing due to the growing numbers of tourists worldwide (overall figures are forecast to double by 2030) by implementing a concerted strategy. This is why the Indre-et-Loire General Council entrusted Touraine’s Départemental Tourism Agency with the task of drafting a competitiveness plan for the Touraine-Loire Valley destination, which was voted on by the Départemental Assembly on 13 February 2015.
The results of the “LOIRE & LOGES” competition were announced on 11 December 2014. The winning vineyard shelters will be built by CFA BTP 37 and the FFB and exhibited at the Vitiloire Fair in Tours before being inaugurated in the “host” municipalities of Chouzé-sur-Loire and Savonnières. An exhibition at the Maison de l’Architecture du Centre in Orleans will be displaying the 20 projects selected.
On 11 December 2014, the Europarc Federation awarded the Park the certificate validating its candidacy for the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (ECST). Incorporation of sustainable development at all levels of tourism activity is a challenge to be met, providing opportunities for professional actors to stand out from the crowd while meeting ever an increasing demand for authenticity and unspoiled nature.
