The results of the “LOIRE & LOGES” competition were announced on 11 December 2014. The winning vineyard shelters will be built by CFA BTP 37 and the FFB and exhibited at the Vitiloire Fair in Tours before being inaugurated in the “host” municipalities of Chouzé-sur-Loire and Savonnières. An exhibition at the Maison de l’Architecture du Centre in Orleans will be displaying the 20 projects selected.
On 11 December 2014, the Europarc Federation awarded the Park the certificate validating its candidacy for the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (ECST). Incorporation of sustainable development at all levels of tourism activity is a challenge to be met, providing opportunities for professional actors to stand out from the crowd while meeting ever an increasing demand for authenticity and unspoiled nature.
On 15 December 2014, the Royal Fortress of Chinon was awarded 1st Prize in the “Victoires de l’Accessibilité” initiative promoted by the Centre Region URAPEI (Regional Union of Associations of Parents and Friends of the Mentally Impaired), in recognition of the tour itinerary it created in collaboration with ADAPEI 37, which is specifically designed for intellectually impaired visitors.
The cultural season organised by some thirty Loire Valley stakeholders to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Francis I’s accession to the throne was launched at the Royal Château of Amboise on 22 January 2015. Some fifteen journalists were in attendance, including 9 from the national press.
The Royal Abbey of Fontevraud was recently awarded two prizes in recognition of its “sustainable city” programme and the rehabilitation of a part of the site as a hotel.
Château Dunois in Beaugency reopened in mid-October 2014 after having been closed to visitors for 11 years. In 2013, the General Council sold it to Xavier Lelevé, owner of Château de Meung-sur-Loire, since when it has undergone renovation work prior to opening its doors to the public.
