The Pays de la Loire and Centre-Val de Loire regions have adopted respectively the "2016 - 2020 Regional Plan for the Development of Tourism and Leisure" and the "2016-2021 Regional Tourism and Leisure Strategy".

Pays de la Loire Region

The new tourist strategy for the next four years focuses on the following aims: increase the number of international visitors, strengthen the complementary nature of the coastal, rural and urban services on offer and deploy an appeal strategy based on the local area's economic and tourist assets

Four priorities have been identified:

  • Greater appeal: get international visitors back
  • Make the local areas more equal: support all the areas
  • Aim for more competitive options: support more professionals in the development of the services they provide
  • Greater proximity: better connect the Centre-Loire Valley Tourist Board (CRT) with tourism stakeholders

In order to respond to these priorities, concrete actions are going to be undertaken, in particular in the following areas:

  • The new tourist services on offer in 2017 will bear a new regional brand
  • Agritourism and wine tourism
  • Strengthening the "Loire-Loire Valley" destination: the Loire on foot, the Loire by bike, the Loire by boat, etc.

The new EnPaysdelaLoire.com website, dedicated to promoting tourism in Pays de la Loire, was put online a few days ago. Ultimately, which is without a doubt the real innovation, this digital platform is banking on learning and user data analysis in order to predict the demand and to adapt further to targets and situations.

Centre-Val de Loire Region

The Centre-Val de Loire destinations are now aiming to become a tourism model for the gentle way and art of living at European level, while further boosting the appeal for inhabitants of Ile de France and the surrounding regions.

"The reputation of the region, largely linked to the wealth of heritage, is the predominant factor involved in choosing Centre-Val de Loire as a destination. Visitors firstly come to visit the châteaux, but they also appreciate the region for the wealth of its natural heritage and its delicious food. Our visitors tend to be active tourists, combining nature with culture."

The strategy has four focus areas:

  • Strengthen the major tourist assets in the Centre-Val de Loire region
    • Cycle tourism: become a reference region at European level
    • Nature and culture: renew the services on offer and develop the range of clientele
    • The Loire Valley and the regional tourism brands
  • Enhance the services on offer to renew the client experience
  • Support the increase in skills and the networking of stakeholders
  • Put the client experience at the heart of the marketing strategy
