On the occasion of an inauguration ceremony held on 6 February 2014, the Bibliothèques Virtuelles Humanistes (BVH – Humanist Virtual Libraries) team from the Centre d'Etudes Supérieur de la Renaissance (CESR – Centre for Higher Renaissance Studies) and Tours’ Laboratoire d'Informatique (LI – Computer Science Laboratory) presented the ReNom website: a peregrination through the works of Rabelais and Ronsard in discovery of their settings and characters.

ReNom provides tools for navigating its content using names of people and places occurring in Rabelais’ and Ronsard’s writings as starting points. It is equipped with a geolocation module and can carry out multicriteria searches and navigate from one place to another

The website aims to:

  • Contribute to promotion of the Region’s literary heritage by drawing on scientific research,
  • Provide users with an entertaining and educational service,
  • Offer fresh perspectives and other tools for use by tourism professionals.

The project was subsidised by the Centre Region following the 2011 call for projects.
