From 31 March to 4 July 2015, the Touraine-Loire Valley Permanent Centre for Environmental Initiatives (CPIE) built a traditional "toue sablière" boat with a group of students from the Pontourny Vocational Training and Education Centre (CEFP) in Véron. This project was supervised by professionals from the CEFP in the workshop of Bruno Perdriau, a marine carpenter based in Saint Germain sur Vienne, and Florian Messin, a head educator at the CPIE and coordinator of this project.

Over the four months of this hands-on project, the youngsters learned a range of woodworking techniques. Two open days gave the public the chance to learn about the project and to meet the students, who were able to present their work and explain the different stages involved in the boat's construction.

On 4 July, "Le Bosseau" (the boat's name pays homage to the Malian ethnic group living on the River Niger) took to the waters in Saint-Germain-sur-Vienne and this was yet another opportunity to present the project to the public, who had flocked to see the event.

In September, the students were treated to a week of sailing along the river as a reward.

From 23 to 27 September 2015, Le Bosseau then attended the Loire Festival in Orléans. The youngsters ran a stand alongside the CPIE to share this enjoyable adventure with schoolchildren and the general public.

This project had been presented during the Mediation Encounters on 1 April 2015 in Montlouis-sur-Loire.
