From 1 to 8 May 2009, Laurent Mourey will be cycling the Loire’s 1,000km. The 38-year-old has the genetic disease Charcot-Marie-Dent, a hereditary and progressive neuromuscular illness, but has set himself this challenge to raise the profile of this disease and the progress being made in research into its treatment.
Accompanying him will be cyclists from the "Vélo loisir montais" association and five fellow riders.
An appeal for funds from everyone, firms and individuals
alike, has been launched to ensure this project brings practical
benefits.
