The Loire Valley through foreign eyes

Published on 17 October 2016 - Updated 23 April 2020

Put together on behalf of the Centre and Pays de la Loire regions, in partnership with the Atelier Calder, this exhibition evokes the presence and works of either foreign artists or artists from abroad who have been to the Loire Valley and chosen it as their favoured place of inspiration or expression.

Artists, writers and celebrities... all rub shoulders within it. Without claiming to be exhaustive, this exhibition brings together and sheds light on visions and interpretations of this special region – covering all associated disciplines and eras.

This proposal shows visitors the Loire landscape from different angles. While some artists prefer travelling, depiction and description, others are on display because, in Renaissance times, they were working in the Court and with the people in power. Last but not least, in a more contemporary manner, other creators are continuing and developing this movement.

"The Loire Valley through foreign eyes" takes a fresh approach to the Loire Valley, recognised by the international community as a cultural landscape and included on Unesco's World Heritage List in November 2000.

20 graphic panels, 120x180, for indoor and outdoor use (on self-standing displays).

The exhibition panels are also addressed in a book published by Editions Loire et terroirs.
