On 2 December last year, Saumur Val de Loire Urban Area Community was the winning candidate in the Landscape Plans national call for proposals. Recognising the Loire as the bedrock of their communities, the greater urban area, municipalities involved and partners have made a pledge in favour of the Loire landscapes to enable locals and users to reconnect with the river.

The new Loire à vélo website has been up and running since June. Beyond the visual features, users' experience has also been hugely enhanced, for it is now much easier for them to plan their route and find out what services are available along the way. Another new feature is a section highlighting the experiences of cyclists who have already headed out along the Loire à Vélo.

Applications must be submitted before 30 April at 12 pm.

Calling on participatory funding, the project aims to offer a representation reminiscent of a stay at the end of his reign, around 1545. The chateau would like to offer its visitors a full-on journey through time and an entirely new experience.

Tourism: a positive season for 2017 and plans for 2019
The CRT (regional tourist board) published an interim report for the 2017 tourist season. All the figures are looking good compared with last year, and even 2015, which was itself a good year. To ensure that this trend continues, the Centre-Val de Loire Region is carrying out several projects, including celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Renaissance in 2019.

These discounted rates are valid until December 2018.

The Chinon, Vienne and Loire Community of Municipalities wants to find new momentum for Seuilly abbey, a community facility right in the heart of the La Rabelaisie project. The call for expression of interest is a consultation procedure for project leaders. The aim of the operation is to enable stakeholders interested in setting up a project on this site, to come up with and promote their proposals, which if possible should be innovative either in terms of developing built heritage for tourism or cultural purposes, or in the field of education.

SNCF Gares & Connexions, under the scientific and technical supervision of the Centre-Val de Loire DRAC and with support from the Patrimoine Environnement association, led the restoration of 18 painted ceramic pictures decorating the indoor façades of Tours station, listed on the Additional Inventory of Historical Monuments.

This work covers six centuries of the history of plant life in Anjou, from the days of Good King René to the creation of the Végépolys competitive cluster. The author, Jean-Luc Gaignard, is Director of Strategy at Terre des Sciences and a former Research Engineer at INRA.

Solidarity with the “Rabouilleuse-École de Loire”
On the night of Sunday 3 / Monday 4 April 2016, the “Rabouilleuse-École de Loire” association’s boathouse, boats and restoration equipment were destroyed by arson. The GRAINE Centre network has launched an appeal for donations in support of the association, which is devoted to promotion of yachting on the Loire and an environmental approach to the Loire Valley site. Volunteer support groups are mobilising around the association’s single employee, Clément Sirgue, to keep activities on track, in particular organisation of the “La Petite Mussette” festival, the 3rd edition of “Plaisirs de Loire” (Pleasures of the Loire), in May 2016.

On the night of Sunday 3 / Monday 4 April 2016, the “Rabouilleuse-École de Loire” association’s boathouse, boats and restoration equipment were destroyed by arson. The GRAINE Centre network has launched an appeal for donations in support of the association, which is devoted to promotion of yachting on the Loire and an environmental approach to the Loire Valley site. Volunteer support groups are mobilising around the association’s single employee, Clément Sirgue, to keep activities on track, in particular organisation of the “La Petite Mussette” festival, the 3rd edition of “Plaisirs de Loire” (Pleasures of the Loire), in May 2016.

On 9 April 2015, a partnership agreement was signed at Chambord between the National Estate of Chambord and the City Palace of Udaipur, managed by the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation. Developing exchanges between the Loire Valley châteaux and Rajasthan’s palaces was a shared wish, jointly expressed by Laurent Fabius, France’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The history and architecture of Blois Royal Château in 3D
Since April 2013, interactive screens have been put up in the great mediaeval room known as the "States-General" room. Five virtual and interactive models present how the château's architecture has evolved over time, from the 13th century mediaeval fortress to its transformation into a historical monument and museum in the 19th century.

On Friday 27 May 2011 at Tours, the Mission Val de Loire, in partnership with InterLoire and the Chamber of Agriculture of Loir-et-Cher, is organising a day where it will present the experiences of world heritage vineyards (the Vitour network) to local communities, tourism professionals and wine-growers.

On Friday 27 May 2011 at Tours, the Mission Val de Loire, in partnership with InterLoire and the Chamber of Agriculture of Loir-et-Cher, is organising a day where it will present the experiences of world heritage vineyards (the Vitour network) to local communities, tourism professionals and wine-growers.
220 participants in the 2nd Loire à Vélo meeting series
Hoteliers, property owners, tourist offices and visitor and institutional sites came together on 31 March 2011 at Fontevraud Abbey to discuss a project that has already become very successful with tourists and to exchange information on the initiatives planned for 2011 and the work which remains for each party to carry out: finalising and securing the route and improving welcoming services (public services and commercial services).

As part of the “Quality attractions in the Loire Valley” initiative led by the Touraine tourist board, five new sites on the Loire have been accredited with this national status since the start of 2011.

The “Vignobles and Découvertes” label was created in 2010 by the Secretary of State for Tourism with the aim of making life easier for tourists in search of viticultural offers and so help develop wine tourism. Chinon Bourgueil Azay, the Layon Valley and the Loir Valley are among the first destinations to be labelled.

They are an occasion to take stock of the past season and to take a look at projects for the coming year.
