“Promoting Loire Heritage” call for proposals
The Pays de la Loire Region is launching a “Promoting Heritage” call for proposals in order to support projects which promote and play a part in the transmission of heritage. It is made up of an all-ages section and another for youth in order to enable young people to get to know, appropriate and promote cultural heritage. The first closing dates for entries are 23 February (youth section) and 23 March (all-ages section).

This year will enable the promotion of heritage as a key part of cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue, the showcasing of best practices to ensure conservation and safeguarding of heritage as well as the development of knowledge on the subject among a large audience, in particular children and young people, local communities and people who are rarely exposed to culture.

Call for Expression of Interest for Seuilly Abbey
The Chinon, Vienne and Loire Community of Municipalities wants to find new momentum for Seuilly abbey, a community facility right in the heart of the La Rabelaisie project. The call for expression of interest is a consultation procedure for project leaders. The aim of the operation is to enable stakeholders interested in setting up a project on this site, to come up with and promote their proposals, which if possible should be innovative either in terms of developing built heritage for tourism or cultural purposes, or in the field of education.

Operation PLA’NET on La Gloriette
On 6 November 2014, 430 secondary-school pupils and students from the Tours urban area took over La Gloriette plain with the aim of cleaning up the banks of the Cher and Petit-Cher and planting young trees and bushes. Result: 2.5 dumpsters of garbage collected and 3000 trees planted along with 150 extra young shoots.

The last territorial conference, bringing together the main local authorities of the UNESCO-listed site and chaired by the Coordinating Prefect and the Region’s two presidents, was held in Tours on 25 September 2013. On the agenda: a review of the management plan a year after it was approved, and the prospects for an action plan to put its main guidelines into practice.

Pupils at La Rabière secondary school (Joué-lès-Tours) are continuing to learn more about heritage in a Comenius European project. In particular, they have created a "Comenius Corner" at their school where everyone can go to find out about the heritage of European partners.

In December 2012, the twenty or so pupils from the Comenius club and their teachers Sandrine Mallet and Elisabeth Wagner welcomed their partners to the Loire Valley.

This centre is due to open in 2015 in the old lifting factory – which attests to the city's historical and industrial past and was built at the turn of the 20th century, finally closing its doors in 1989. The project – which will cost around 10 million euros – is the brainchild of the Pays de la Loire Region, Saint-Nazaire and the Grand Port Maritime Nantes-Saint-Nazaire.

The new school year 2011/2012 will see a “wine tourism” module included in the “vine and wine” professional baccalaureate, in line with the Regional Innovation Platform’s project for development of innovative practices in wine tourism.

The national finals of the 41st trade Olympics were held at the beginning of February 2011 in London. Benoît Campas and Dylan Chauvat, students at Fresne lycée (Maine-et-Loire), won after three days of competition.
