Lithographs from Orléans dating from the 19th century

At the beginning of this year, the Loiret départemental archives unearthed 72 lithographs depicting Orléans in the 19th century. They are the work of Charles Pensée, a French painter and draftsman who worked particularly on architectural depictions, and Alphonse Beaujoint, a draftsman and etcher who specialised in picturesque views. As part of the city has since been destroyed, their lithographs are a precious account of what Orléans could have been like before 1870.

The Fondation du Patrimoine and the Chinon Vienne and Loire Community of Municipalities have decided to launch a petition in order to restore the house of Henri Dutilleux (1919-2009) and his wife Geneviève Joy (1916-2013). Located in Candes-Saint-Martin, this house was bequeathed by the Joy-Dutilleux couple who wanted it to be home to an artist-in-residence programme dedicated to composing and the piano.

Chambord: new formal French gardens

Since 20 March 2017, visitors have been able to explore Chambord's rediscovered formal French gardens. They are spread over six and a half hectares at the foot of the château's north façade. The Loire-Anjou-Touraine Park on video

The Centre Region has produced a video lovingly portraying the Park’s landscapes in their autumn colours, while the Park itself has onlined a video on “Brain-sur-l'Authion marsh: Renaissance of a milieu”, an opportunity to see how local officials, technicians and facilitators went into action together to resurrect the site. The film was directed by Johan Neveu during his voluntary civic service at the Park in 2014.

Saumur’s theatre, which had been closed to the public since June 2008, reopened its doors on Tuesday 2 December 2014 with its first show sold out. The present building, which was designed by the architect Joly-Leterme in 1866, has undergone a number of successive restorations, above all following the destructions of 1940, which resulted in the present project, initiated in 2000.

A new statue, a piece by the artist Anny Barrois (1944-2013), will be erected on 18 October 2014 at the "Grave of Saint Gatien", at the corner of rues Alleron and Georges-Courteline, which, according to tradition, is the place where the first bishop of Tours was buried around the year 300.

This new biscuit was created by Chalonnes pastry chef Benoit Cornuault for the Association des Chalandoux du 5e Vent, which has launched the product to promote Chalonnes’ identity. A dedicated website for the Archives municipales de Blois

This website is designed especially for consulting documents and will be added to at regular intervals. It contains digitised archives (including deliberations of the municipal council from 1565 to 1989 and pictures of Blois in the 1930s and after the bombings of 1940) as well as virtual exhibitions: “Les petites expos”, a selection of annotated documents on a theme of local history, and “Le doc du mois”, a closer look at a different, original document each month.
