Crossing the Loire by ferry, relaxing in a lodge or on the beach, and reacquainting yourself with Le Véron’s heritage are among the new activities well worth testing out this summer.

Tours’ beach

From 4 July to 6 September 2015, the City of Tours invites you to (re)discover an unspoiled natural area alongside the north bank of the Loire, just a stone’s throw from the Wilson Bridge: “The Beach”.

The site accommodates a bar, snack-bars and picnic areas, and has an activity programme on offer. The project was implemented in collaboration with the Petit Monde association, which manages the open-air café on the opposite bank.

Lodges for cyclotourists

The “Loire & Loges” two winning projects were presented in Tours at the end of May 2015 during the Vitiloire exhibition, before being inaugurated on 27 June on the banks of the Cher, opposite the campsite, and on 17 July in Chouzé-sur-Loire. Any and all “Loire à Vélo” cyclists will be free to stop off for a spot of rest in them this summer.

A new Loire ferry

From 21 July to 31 August 2015, from Tuesday to Sunday (and on Mondays upon reservation), the “Passeur de Loire” ferry will be connecting the ports of Montlivaultand Cour-sur-Loire for walkers and cyclists. 12 passengers can be accommodated per crossing, which lasts 30 minutes and costs €2. The first departure leaves at 11 a.m. from Montlivault, and the last at 6 p.m. from Montlivault.

The service is managed by the Marins du Port de Chambord association based in Saint-Dyé-sur-Loire. The boat was built in Montlivault by the Kaïros occupational integration association

Financing from a variety of public and private sources enabled successful completion of the project, including participation by the communities and municipalities of Beauce Ligérienne and Grand Chambord, the Centre-Loire Valley region and Europe.
