Several initiatives are coming about to offer tourists gîtes or B&Bs on traditional Loire boats.
Alex Fagat, a Loire fisherman, has opened the first river B&B in Anjou. The traditional toues cabanées "Rue du tangage" (sleeps 4-6) and "Libertés" (sleeps 2) give tourists the chance to spend an amazing night on the river with prices starting at €60 for 2 people (breakfast included).
Max Pannier has been building boats for fifteen years in Saint-Germain-sur-Vienne. His recent orders include traditional toues cabanées fitted out as river gîtes.
One of these 15-m long boats, which can sleep up to 6 in a 20 sq.m. cabin, will be moored in Saumur this summer.
The new traditional toue cabanée ofthe Marins du port de Chambord, "La Belle Cabiche", can accommodate up to 12 people onboard, and sleep four for a night on the river.
