Organised by InterLoire along with the Loire Valley Oenotourism Management Committee, the 8th Loire Vineyards’ Tourist Wine-Cellar Network Encounters, held in Angers on 12 January 2016, brought together 130 winegrowers, wine merchants and tourism professionals from the Centre-Loire Valley and Pays-de-la-Loire regions. The “excellence” label rewarding quality of welcome and the wine tourism services was awarded to 21 tourist wine cellars audited in 2015.
At the end of 2015, the Community Council unanimously passed the Angers Loire Métropole Local Urban Plan draft decision. It will be submitted for public enquiry in 2016 before being definitively approved in early 2017. This plan contains Planning and Scheduling Guidelines (OAPs), including a specific one for the Loire Valley which is broken down into objectives for protecting and showcasing the specifics of the UNESCO listed site.
Marking the 1,700th anniversary of his birth, Saint Martin of Tours Year has been going on since 10/11 November 2015. It will continue until 4 July 2017. The City of Tours and its partners are putting on a whole programme of events in this respect.
The City of Chinon is launching a consultation with a view to entrusting the installation and exhibition of a guinguette (traditional open-air café) serving food & drink and organising events over the summer on the Pointe du Camping site along the Vienne riverbanks in Chinon.
This year, students at the Lycée Angers Le Fresne sixth-form college are helping to restore the Loire black poplar tree as part of a national call for projects, BIODIVEA, aimed at developing biodiversity on the farmland of agricultural lycées. This Lycée got involved in this call for projects in 2012. The project also concerns protection of local apple and pear varieties.
The Mécène & Loire corporate foundation is launching its annual call for innovative and/or original image-forging projects for the Maine-et-Loire region, in the culture, solidarity, heritage, science or environment fields. This year, some €140,000 will be granted to twenty or so original projects.
