This year, students at the Lycée Angers Le Fresne sixth-form college are helping to restore the Loire black poplar tree as part of a national call for projects, BIODIVEA, aimed at developing biodiversity on the farmland of agricultural lycées. This Lycée got involved in this call for projects in 2012. The project also concerns protection of local apple and pear varieties.
The Mécène & Loire corporate foundation is launching its annual call for innovative and/or original image-forging projects for the Maine-et-Loire region, in the culture, solidarity, heritage, science or environment fields. This year, some €140,000 will be granted to twenty or so original projects.
The Loir-et-Cher County Archives have just digitised and uploaded this collection of 38 maps, harking back to the 1860s and completed in pen-and-ink and watercolour by the Bridges and Highways department (the current-day County Department for Local Areas). This superb collection gives an invaluable snapshot of agricultural and urban developments around the Loire in the late 19th century.
For the 2016-2017 year, a call for artists has been launched for two residencies at the Agricultural Vocational Lycée, or sixth-form college (De la nature et des services/Nature and services) in Chambray-les-Tours and the Vinegrowing Vocational Lycée (De la vigne, du vin et du cheval/Vines, wines and horses) in Amboise. The closing date for applications is Monday 7 March 2016.
As part of its new urban project, on 6 October 2015 the City of Tours signed an "urban quality charter" with architects, professionals from the construction sector, landlords/lessors and other stakeholders to define a method, procedure and commitments for each signatory for the purposes of implementing the urban project in Tours.
The proceedings from the "Landscapes, we're all involved!" seminar organised on 9 and 10 January 2014 in Angers are available.
