In September 2015, Château d’Azay-le-Rideau teamed up with the primary school in the municipality of Druye (37) to implement an artistic and cultural education project promoted by 4th- and 5th-year class teacher Eric Hitier and the château’s Visitors’ Department. The project, entitled #Azay Augmenté, bears on creation of a digital visit guide for younger visitors.

After spending several months working on the château’s collections, both in class and at the monument itself, pupils in 4th- and 5th-year classes (CE2-CM1 and CM1-CM2) selected works they considered would particularly interest young visitors. They reinterpreted them in their own words and created new mediation resources –videos, photographs, sound files and interactive mind-maps – all of which were put together to form a new digital visit guide.

To complete the project, the 47 pupils involved recorded  a webradio broadcast in the château’s great hall on 27 May 2016. Playing the part of journalists, the pupils interviewed the château’s teams along with two representatives of the Départemental Directorate for National Education Services.
